Welche respektiven Politiken des Schauens verfolgen wir? Wie stehen Blick, Macht und Positionalität in Beziehung? Was lernen und verstehen wir in der aktiven Auseinandersetzung mit dem Zuschauen über Vertrautheit, Zeug:innenschaft und Schaulust? Wie können wir rassistische und koloniale Blickregime entziffern und Bezüge zum Zuschauen kritisch neu codieren. In diesem Workshop laden wir zur gemeinsamen Annäherung im Erproben einer kritischen Zuschauer:innenschaft ein.
Dies ist eine Weiterbildungsinitiative von Decolonizing Salzburg und D—Arts in Kooperation mit der FH Salzburg, die das Problembewusstsein über koloniale und diskriminierende Kontinuitäten schärfen, den reflektierten Umgang mit diesen fördern und Sensibilitäten stärken möchte.

Djamila Grandits ist Kuratorin und lebt in Wien. Sie ist Teil von CineCollective und im Kuratorium von D—Arts, Projektbüro für Diversität. Sie beschäftigt sich mit Verstrickungen und kollektiven Prozessen.
Lara Bellon ist Ko-Leiterin von Tricky Women Tricky Realities, International Animation Filmfestival Vienna und arbeitet an unterschiedlichen kollektiven Projekten an der Schnittstelle zwischen künstlerischen und sozio-politischen Praxen.
Die beiden verbinden Freund:innenschaft, kuratorische und forschende Praxen. Zusammen arbeiten sie an Programmen, Lehrformaten und Workshops. Eine Kooperationsveranstaltung von dem Afro-Asiatischen Institut, der FH Salzburg und D—Arts, Projektbüro für Diversität.

“there is power in looking”
critical spectatorship and the deconstruction of violent gaze regimes
What are our respective politics of looking? How does gaze relate to power, positionality and supremacy? When actively engaging with spectatorship, what do we learn and understand about familiarity, bearing witness and (guilty) pleasures of looking? How can we decipher and deconstruct racist and colonial gaze regimes and critically recode our relationships to looking. A shared endeavor in self-reflection and rehearsal of critical spectatorship.
This is a continuing education initiative by Decolonizing Salzburg and D—Arts in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Salzburg, which aims to raise awareness of colonial and discriminatory continuities, promote a reflective approach to them and strengthen sensitivities.
Djamila Grandits is a Vienna-based curator and film programmer. Part of CineCollective and D—Arts, she cares about entanglements and the exploration of collective spaces.
Lara Bellon is co-director of Tricky Women Tricky Realities, International Animation Filmfestival Vienna and is working on various collective projects at the intersection of artistic and socio-political practices.
They share friendship and academic, curatorial and research practices, working together on programmes, lecture formats and workshops.
